Aerodynamics engineers optimized the car and decided to give 17-inch alloy wheels and low rolling resistance to cut. 2012 Buick Regal eAssist will go on sale in the U.S. this fall. 
2012 Buick Regal eAssist support 115V lithium-ion batteries and a 15-kilowatt induction motor-generator on a 2.4-liter direct injection four cylinder engine mounted in place of the generator. Assistance and the engine and electric generating functions eAssist also reduces fuel consumption through regenerative braking, automatic shut off when the vehicle is idle, fuel cut-off during deceleration.
Also equipped with facilities including a new generation of Hydra-Matic 6T40 six-speed automatic transmission with reduced spin and higher loss rates, which further improves fuel consumption. Combined power system is rated at 182HP (136 kW).
