At the Chicago Auto Show, Buick announced that the second model in the lineup for eAssist "light electrification" of the 2012 Regal face. The estimated fuel economy is 26 mpg city/37 mpg highway, while the overall improvement of the standard 2011 features a regal four-cylinder petrol engine and six-speed transmission is 25%.
"Buick is eAssist technology means that customers do not have to shop for a premium driving experience," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of marketing for the Buick. "We believe that Regal Lacrosse eAssist a logical and affordable choice in comparison to other hybrid medium and full-size luxury sedan."
Aerodynamics engineers optimized the car and decided to give 17-inch alloy wheels and low rolling resistance to cut. 2012 Buick Regal eAssist will go on sale in the U.S. this fall.
2012 Buick Regal eAssist support 115V lithium-ion batteries and a 15-kilowatt induction motor-generator on a 2.4-liter direct injection four cylinder engine mounted in place of the generator. Assistance and the engine and electric generating functions eAssist also reduces fuel consumption through regenerative braking, automatic shut off when the vehicle is idle, fuel cut-off during deceleration.
Also equipped with facilities including a new generation of Hydra-Matic 6T40 six-speed automatic transmission with reduced spin and higher loss rates, which further improves fuel consumption. Combined power system is rated at 182HP (136 kW).
